What is an eSIM?

When does the plan start?
For most plans, when you first connect to a network at your destination. You can install the eSIM days before the trip without using anything.
Is my phone compatible?
iPhones from the XR/XS onward and most mid-range and high-end Android phones from recent years are. In Settings, look for the option to add an eSIM or a data plan.
What if I run out of data?
With unlimited plans you never run out: once the daily allowance is used you keep browsing at reduced speed (enough for WhatsApp, maps and email) and it renews the next day. With data-allowance plans, when the data runs out you can top up if the plan allows it.
